The first Underage festival took place in 2007 and evolved out of a series of underage club nights held in South London, hosted and organised by Sam Kilcoyne (now 17), after he was refused admission to a Buzzcocks gig due to his age (he was fourteen years old at the time). These events grew popular with teenagers and received national press coverage in newspapers and on television.
Yorkshire indie starlets Pigeon Detectives opened the inaugural event in 2007 to a rapturous response and as a token of their affection the band are coming out of the studio to headline an exclusive festival show at Underage 2009
The rest of the line up is an eclectic and dynamic tag team. New Zealand’s electro pop queen LadyHawke, Hadouken!, Metronomy, Rolo Tomassi, Esser, Tinchy Stryder and Kissy Sell Out will all be playing live at Underage.
A whole host of other artists compliment the line up including melodic synth pop stars Rosie and the Goldbug and NME tipped The Chapman Family.
