F-JAY, ZOO KID, RIZZLE KICKS AND FLATLINE ADDED TO YOUTH MUSIC STAGE LINE UP

We are very very very pleased to announce the opening acts that will be performing on the Youth Music stage at Underage festival 2010.

We got in touch with loads of the amazing young musicians that we have worked with over the years to find out what they've been up to recently and how they're progressing in their musical journeys.  As part of our effort to encourage the incredible talent that we work with, we then chose 4 of these acts to fill the opening slots on our stage.  Here they are (drum roll please!.....)

F-Jay
F-Jay (AKA Jase Ukaegbu) first came to our attention in 2007 when he entered our Origin8 songwriting competition with his friend Korey as 'Vocal Siblinz'.  The judges for the competition, which included grime legend, Kano, were so impressed with their talent, that they were chosen as one of the 4 winners and went on to record a track in the studio with legendary producer Colin 'S-Swing' Emmanuel.  They then went on to perform at Michelle Escoffery's Kindred Spirit showcase and the Creamfields festival in Liverpool in 2008.  Now 18, F-Jay is flying solo, and is one of the most dedicated and hardworking young musicians you could meet.  Now signed to C.I.C records, he has released an EP, mixtape, and has had his fingers in a number of filmmaking and theatre projects.  We can't wait to see him in action at Underage.  Find out more at www.myspace.com/fjaymusic

"I'm a good example to others to show how Youth Music can have an effect on your chosen dream" , F- Jay

Zoo Kid
Zoo Kid (or Archy to his mum!) is one in a million.  We first met Archy in a dingy basement studio in London when he came to audition for our Build A Band competition in 2008.  We were all so blown away by him, that we chose him as one of the winners that year and he went on to write and record a track with 4 other young musicians that he had never met before.  After 3 days in the studio, they performed live to an audience of thousands on the LeftField stage at Glastonbury 2008.  Describing his music as a mixture of Psychobilly, Darkwave and Surf, Archy combines heartpouring vocals with lyrics wise beyond his 15 years.  You can't afford to miss him.  Find out more at www.myspace.com/zookid

"My involvement with Youth Music has built my confidence and give me great experiences, opportunities, and knowledge which I always look to build on", Zoo Kid

Rizzle Kicks
These two lovely lads from Brighton first caught our eye when they auditioned for our competition last year to win the chance to perform on stage at Underage 2009.  We were so blown away by their performance and so impressed with how hard they've been working since, that we have invited them back for the second year in a row.  Describing their music as 'Indie Hop' they draw from an eclectic range of artists from Pete Doherty ad Beck to Dizzee Rascal and P-Money and they are unique.  Part Grime, part Hip Hop blended with Rock and Indie, Jordan and Harley are a force to be reckoned with and will no doubt get the party going on our stage at Underage 2010.  Find out more at www.myspace.com/rizzlekicks

"Last year’s Underage Festival was quite simply the best day… and that’s no exaggeration! Since that day, countless opportunities have come our way, either as a direct response to seeing us at the festival, or through watching the YouTube video of our performance. The support of Youth Music has been invaluable and it’s safe to say we most definitely wouldn’t be in any sort of position within music without it.", Rizzle Kicks

Flatline (DJs)
These lads from North London came along to our Underage competition auditions in 2009 and wowed the judges with their dubstep beats.  We like them so much, that we invited them to be our resident DJs for the day at Underage 2009.  Since then, they have bagged a residency at UTR, won a competition to play Breakages album launch party, played at Heard it through the Bassline in Edinburgh, and won a competition to have a tune released on Lot 49.  Phew!  If that wasn't enough, they've also played loads of other gigs across london, had songs played on Rinse FM, had their own set on Inner City FM and are now in the process of producing an EP.  Once again, we have invited them back to be our resident DJs and hosts for the Youth Music Stage at Underage Festival 2010.  Find out more at www.myspace.com/flatlineldn

"Our involvement with Youth Music gave us the confidence to take music more seriously and start looking for more gigs.  Furthermore, it gave us the experience of playing to a big crowd, something we now do more regularly", George, Flatline

So, there we have it - the 4 acts that will have pride of place on the Youth Music stage at Underage 2010.  We are incredibly proud of them and that we have been a part of their musical journeys.  Most importantly - we can't wait to see them perform live again in less than two weeks!!
