Underage Festival - Youth Music [Back to homepage]

1. This competition is only open to individuals that are UK residents (this includes the Channel Islands) and aged between 14 and 18 (incl 18) on August 2, 2009. Youth Music is unable to contribute to the expenses of finalists outside England and Wales. 

2. Entrants must complete the ONLINE ENTRY FORM and upload an AUDIO / VIDEO DEMO - MAXIMUM LENGTH 4 MINUTES. The demo must be an ORIGINAL song - cover versions WILL NOT be considered

3. You must be performing in the demo ie. singing / MCing /playing an instrument. This can either solo or as part of a band.  If you are a band - EVERY MEMBER must be aged between 14-18 years old

4. Only one entry will be accepted per person.

5. Entries must be received by the closing date of 5pm on MONDAY JUNE 15, 2009.  Entries will then be shortlisted.

6. The highest rated entries will be specially noted by the judges. However, being among the highest rated will not guarantee a place at the auditions. Each and every entry will be judged on musical merit and originality - not just on it's rating.

7. If shortlisted, you will be invited to one of three regional auditions (this will be the audition being held closest to where you live, except in special cirumstances).  Auditions will be held in JULY London in LONDON, BRISTOL and MANCHESTER. Youth Music WILL NOT reimburse travel costs to auditions. Successful auditionees will be contacted by Wednesday 24 June

8. A panel of judges will select the winners and a reserve list by JULY 21 2009. Successful applicants will be contacted personally by phone and by email.

9. The Underage competition winners will be contacted by JULY 21 2009.

10. The Underage winners must be available (with parent(s) or guardian(s) if under 18) to perform at the Underage festival on the Youth Music ‘Music is Power’ stage on Sunday 2 August, 2009.
